Before Construction
Project Overview
This project involved increasing the ceiling height in an existing basement space without affecting the rooms above. The original floor system had two layers of joists stacked together, which significantly reduced headroom below.
Our solution carefully removed the lower joists while preserving the structural integrity of the home. The existing steel beam and column system were modified, and new structural supports were introduced to ensure proper load transfer to the foundation.
Special attention was given to maintaining stability during construction while coordinating structural adjustments with existing mechanical systems. The result was a more open and functional basement space achieved through precise structural engineering—without altering the layout or use of the home above.
